Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is LFO?

LFO is a service in which you can take one-to-one French lessons through Skype and pay via Paypal.

LFO is easy and free! No need to register. It’s a huge money saver compared to language schools that charge registration, initiation, and monthly fees.

LFO will provide the best lesson catered to your level. Whether you are a complete beginner or an advanced learner, interested in conversation or a grammar enthusiast, your lesson will be tailored around your goals and interests.

  • How do I get started?

Lessons on LFO are held on Skype, a free software application that enables high quality internet video calls. You can download Skype for free hereOnce your lesson request has been submitted and paid through Paypal, you will receive an automated message notifying you that your lesson has been confirmed.

We recommend that you come up with a specific topic you would like to talk about during the lesson. If you let your tutor know what topic you wish to talk about during the lesson, they will be able to better prepare a lesson for you, which will maximize your lesson time.

Please log into Skype prior to the lesson time and wait for your tutor to contact you. It is critical to let your tutor know what you are looking for in a lesson.

  • How Many Days In Advance Should I Book?

It depends on the teacher’s availability, but please try to book at least a day or two in advance.

  • Can I Cancel or Reschedule a Lesson Appointment?

About Rescheduling & Cancellation

You can always reschedule or cancel a lesson appointment by sending us an email. However, rescheduling your lesson within 24 hours of confirmation is not accepted, and canceling your lesson within 24 hours of confirmation will be charged.

Cancellation In Less than 24 Hours of a Lesson

1) Depending on the cancellation reason, the teacher will require half of the lesson fee if the lesson is cancelled between 12 and 24 hours before the beginning of the lesson, and if the lesson is cancelled less than 12 hours before the beginning of the lesson or if you can’t show up on Skype, the entire lesson fee will be charged.

2) Please note that payment will be refunded in case of a major unfortunate event (hospitalization, death in the family, accident…)

  • What if the teacher cancels the lesson?

In the unfortunate event that the teacher cancels the lesson, you will be refunded entirely. If the lesson is cancelled by the teacher less than 24 hours before the beginning of the lesson, you will also receive a 50 % discount on your next lesson booked on LFO.

  • Do I need to pay a registration fee, initial fee or any monthly fees?

No, you don't have to pay a registration fee. In order to use LFO services, you don't need to register as a member. We do not require, as do most language teaching schools do, a registration fee, initial fee or any monthly fees. However, it is your responsibility to make sure you have headphones and a microphone, if you do not already have one.
